NCTA Panel: The Future of Women in Technology

September 12, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

The Future of Women in Technology
A Call to Action #womenrising
Over the past 50 years, women in the United States have made great strides in education and entry into the workforce in the United States. Today, the majority of bachelor degree graduates (60%) and master’s level graduates (57%) are women, and nearly half (48%) of this country’s workforce is comprised of women. However, as the world rapidly shifts to digital, women account for only 20% of the bachelor’s degrees conferred in engineering, computer science, and physics and regardless of specific area of technology, only about 25% of these positions are held by women. (National Center for Educational Statistics). And, while women represent almost half of the US workforce, just 5% are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and that number expands only slightly when looking at Fortune 1000 companies. (Pew Research)

Join us for a panel discussion with female leaders from a variety of industries as they weigh in on a future where digital, AI and other technologies will have greater influence in the workplace and on our lives. They’ll address tough topics on underrepresentation, culture and career/life balance, the ethics and economics for gender parity, and provide insights on how to effectively advocate for change within your own organization.
