CMS is hosting a community resource event for families with multilingual students, the ]English Learner Family Academic Symposium: A CMS Title III Family Event!
This event will share community resources available for families to support their multilingual students academics at home. Families will leave feeling prepared to support their children as they start a new school year, plus multilingual learners (K-12) will enjoy a day offun activities!
Activities and Giveaways Include:
- Free Food Bags & Uniforms
- Raffles and Giveaways
- Literacy, STEAM & Recreation Community Resources/Partners
- A Cultural Flag Parade

The Role of the Digital Navigator Service
The Digital Navigator Service, powered by the Center for Digital Equity, will be on-site at the event spreading awareness of the no-cost services available for all who live or work in Mecklenburg County. Volunteers will engage with CMS families to build a connection and learn about the digital resources families may be interested in. The no-cost services include:
- Signing up for affordable internet
- Purchasing an affordable device
- Learning new digital skills
- Basic tech and troubleshooting support
