Pulitzer NC: Hashtag Activism: New Media Mobilizes Communities of Interest

Dr. Cheryl Butler-Brayboy, Associate Professor of English in the Department of Languages & Literature at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, and distinguished panelists will explore the power of new media to trigger social activism and political action.

Speakers include:
Dr. Mohammed el-Nawawy, Charles A. Dana Professor of International Communication and Middle Eastern Studies, Department of Political Science and Sociology, Queens University of Charlotte. His work focuses on new media in the Middle East.

Dr. Meredith Clark, Assistant Professor of Journalism at the University of North Texas, Denton, TX. Her research includes race in media, digital and social media, and digital journalism pedagogy.
