E2D/Barings Laptop Distribution

November 17, 2022

Corridor-based Partner Event: ACP Awareness/Enrollment for the residents of Maple Way Apartment Complex. Barings is providing volunteers, but we welcome a few more!

Complete this form to volunteer: https://share.hsforms.com/1UETgTAgST665mOr3GwjGBQ3qimx

About the Event

Participants will receive a refurbished laptop (perhaps their very first computer!) and we will be on hand to sign them up for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP is a new federal benefit program that helps ensure households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more. The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service. Volunteers will help guide residents through the ACP application process. We’ll have a step-by-step packet to guide you, plus additional staff and volunteers will be available to help.

Once the residents receive their new laptop, they may need help with digital skilling and literacy. That’s why we’ll also be raising awareness of our Digital Navigator Services, free to all Mecklenburg residents through 311.
